StoryBookWriter, LLC (the "Company," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to maintaining robust privacy protections for its users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information in connection with the StoryBookWriter website and Service.
"Site" refers to our website, accessible at www.storybookwriter.com. "Service" refers to the Company's services and related products accessed via the Site, including the StoryBookWriter Studio. "You" refers to you, as a user of our Site or Service.
By accessing our Site or Service, you accept this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, and you consent to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your information as described here.
I. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your email address and name, and you create a username and password.
Content you create. To use the Service, you provide the material needed to generate a book — for example, story prompts, character descriptions, names, ages, and any text or images you write or upload ("Creative Content"). We store this content so you can view, edit, and export your books, and so our systems (including the AI providers described below) can generate illustrations and text on your behalf.
Payment information. Purchases are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full card number; Stripe handles that data under its own privacy practices. We retain records of the purchase itself (amount, date, product) for accounting and support purposes.
Information collected via technology. We track information such as referring URL, browser type, device, and time/date of access using cookies (small text files with an anonymous identifier). We may use both persistent and session cookies.
Non-Personal Information. This includes anonymous usage data, aggregate demographic information, and preferences generated from your activity that cannot be used to identify you.
II. How We Use Artificial Intelligence
Story text and illustrations you generate through the Service are created using artificial intelligence models, including AI services provided by OpenAI and cloud infrastructure and storage provided by Google Cloud. When you submit a prompt, description, or image for generation, that input is sent to these third-party providers to produce the output shown in your book.
- AI-generated content may be imperfect, inconsistent, or occasionally inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing generated text and illustrations before publishing or sharing them.
- We do not currently share the prompts or content you submit, or the AI-generated output, with OpenAI or Google Cloud for their own model-training or product-improvement purposes, beyond what is needed to provide the Service to you.
- We do not control how these third-party AI providers process data beyond the instructions and configuration we provide them, and their own privacy and security practices apply to their processing.
III. How We Use and Share Information
Personal Information. We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your Personal Information with third parties for marketing purposes without your consent. We share Personal Information with vendors performing services on our behalf — for example, Stripe (payments), OpenAI and Google Cloud (AI generation and storage), and our email delivery provider — solely to operate the Service. These vendors may only use your information as we direct.
We may also share information where we have a good-faith belief it is necessary to comply with legal process, enforce our Terms of Use, investigate fraud or security issues, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
Non-Personal Information. We may use and disclose Non-Personal Information at our discretion, including to improve the Service and understand usage patterns.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or its successor.
IV. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you do not log in for six (6) months or more, we may treat your account as inactive and delete it along with its associated content, as described in our Terms of Use. Content related to book generation — including temporary generation-job data, superseded draft assets, and expired exports — is retained only for a limited period, no longer than reasonably necessary to provide the Service, and is deleted on a rolling basis once it is no longer needed. Deleted books, pages, and characters are held in a temporary recovery period before permanent deletion, after which they cannot be restored.
V. Children's Privacy
The Site and Service are intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information directly from anyone under the age of 18, and the Site is not directed to children.
If you use the Service to create a book about a child — for example, a personalized story featuring your child's name, age, or likeness, or (for a future template-based feature) a book commemorating a family life event — you are submitting that information as the account holder, and you represent that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or otherwise have the legal authority to submit that information on the child's behalf. You are responsible for the accuracy of, and your right to submit, any information or images about a third party, including a minor.
If you believe a child has independently submitted Personal Information to us without appropriate consent, contact us at support@storybookwriter.com and we will delete it promptly.
VI. How We Protect Information
We implement reasonable security measures, including encryption and secure transmission, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
VII. Your Rights Regarding Your Personal Information
You may opt out of marketing communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in any promotional email or by emailing support@storybookwriter.com. We may still send administrative emails (e.g., about your account or policy updates).
California Residents. California residents have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"):
- Right to know what Personal Information we have collected about you, including the categories and sources of that information and the purposes for which we use it.
- Right to delete Personal Information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (for example, information we need to retain to comply with the law).
- Right to correct inaccurate Personal Information we maintain about you.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your Personal Information. We do not sell or share Personal Information, as those terms are defined under the CCPA (we use analytics for internal purposes only and do not run advertising conversion tracking).
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

EEA/GDPR. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your Personal Information, and to withdraw consent or object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
VIII. Links to Other Websites
The Service may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. This Policy applies only to information we collect directly.
IX. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the Site, and where required, by emailing the address on your account. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
